Code Blue Collaborative began with the humble desire to provide food, clothing, blankets and other resources to local homeless shelters. Since becoming a non-profit organization in 2016, Code Blue Collaborative has expanded its purpose and mission and is tackling homelessness one family at a time.
We are an organization that coordinates community, state and local resources to find homeless families, or families on the verge of homelessness, sustainable housing and connect them with the necessary resources to ensure they are able to remain in the housing and get services they need.
In our work, we have discovered an enormous gap in available support for families who find themselves on the brink of homelessness. Often all it takes is one medical emergency or a few missed days of work to jeopardize a family's stability and start them on a downward spiral. Once a family is displaced from their home, having an eviction on their record or poor credit makes it nearly impossible for them to get a new lease or mortgage. Without a home, it's nearly impossible for them to get back on their feet. Being homeless has a terrible snowball effect and can create additional obstacles for families that reach far beyond the lack of shelter. Sadly, the need in our community far outweighs the resources available for homeless families, which is why the work of Code Blue Collaborative, and similar organizations, is so important. Prevention is our goal – preventing families from becoming homeless in the first place and halting the cycle of homelessness from even beginning.
Code Blue Collaborative is focused on continuing our support for local shelters, but more so, in raising funds to help pay for homeless and at-risk families to find stable homes. What we provide saves money for everyone involved, including taxpayers.
We partner with many local organizations in and around the county and look forward to growing these relationships.
